Oosthuizen van der Merwe

 

After earning his Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, Oosthuizen van der Merwe, became the Mechanical Engineer for the first 5-Star rated office building (Design) in South Africa while at Aurecon SA. He serves on the GBCNA Working Committee, works at Seelenbinder Consulting Engineers cc (SCE), and is a GBCSA Accredited Professional in New, Existing Buildings and Interiors. His current task is the Green Star Certification of SCE’s office, Omake House. 

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AND THE GREEN STAR RATING PROCESS: CASE STUDY - OMAKE HOUSE

Omake House (SCE’s office) is aimed to be the 2nd 6-Star Existing Building and the first Net-Positive building in Namibia. 

This presentation will illustrate the advantages of achieving sustainable design via the Green Star Rating Process and will show how an existing building, designed to be sustainable before the introduction of the Green Star Rating Tool, is able to achieve a high Green Star Rating.
